Health Minister Ginés González García said Thursday the country's healthcare system is in a "critical" state, as he asked Congress to support the Alberto Fernández administration's move to declare a state of emergency on the matter.
González García delivered his comments during a presentation to a congressional Budget and Treasury committee, as well as to the Lower House Chamber of Deputies.
Debate on the emergency measures requested by Alberto Fernández and his officials began Thursday morning, with the new government seeking to introduce a barrage of legislative matters.
The Health minister declared that one of the most important tools at his disposal is the creation of the National Advisory Committee. This body would include provincial government leaders and be charged with designing and implementing the most effective public policies possible that address the individual needs of different parts of the country.
